Flora

Although the McMillan Ranch is located in a semi-arrid part of West Texas, there is an abundance of flora to be enjoyed. In the Spring (with adequate rain) the pastures and hillsides come alive with native wild flowers. In addition to wild flowers, the cacti and native brushes put on their own colorfull displays of springtime splendor. And despite the semi-arrid conditions, tropical ferns and mosses grow high in the rim rocks under the shade of the trees where water vapor from breezes descending over the tops of the hills condenses and collects in the rocks providing moisture even during the heat of summer.
